Brigitte Wolf

Location

United States
Brigitte Wolf was born into a large German family and first traveled to England as a young woman before immigrating to the United States, where she eventually settled in Chicago. She set aside her serious study of art until her family was grown. Since then, she has developed her skills in both sculpture and painting. Brigitte has studied at several prestigious institutions, including The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Noyes Center, Palette and Chisel, and the Evanston Art Center. Her work primarily explores the human form, particularly in dance and other movements, and is characterized by diverse uses of light and color. While her paintings may pay homage to post-impressionist styles—reflecting certain aspects in her human figures and still lifes—she infuses her work with her own sense of dimension and illumination. Recently, she has also enjoyed exploring abstract forms. Her artworks have begun to attract critical attention and are being collected, appearing in both galleries and private collections. When asked about the motivation behind her work, Ms. Wolf replied, “I never cease to be amazed in that moment when some form or image escapes from your fingers through the brush or carving knife.”
